With the arrival of the Ford Mustang in the middle of 1964 there had been a country wide sensation.
This was naturally thanks to the character of the auto design however the strategy in which the media was handled and the selling blitz which happened before, during, and after the official launch.
The Mustang was produced to test in the rising muscle auto segment at the time. The spare tire was found in the back in the area of the back window and the gas tank flap had the Mustang icon on it. They also added some more power to the 289 engine getting it to a 306.
The 2nd variation was the 1965 Mustang GT introduced in Second-quarter of that year and at a price another $165! The GT option was available on the coupe, convertible or fastback models and came with some variations of its own. As for the power train there had been a choice between a 225 h.p. Or a 271 hp V-8 engine. All GT packages came with an upgraded instrument group, striping on the lower part of the body sides.
Whilst this early Mustang earned wide endorse and many recognitions perhaps the most noteworthy is the Tiffany Gong and the 1965 Mustang was the 1st car ever to win this award. This Mustang remains a genuine fave in the eyes of casual fans and collectors alike.
With the appearance of many Mustang orientated automobile clubs, an overall enlarging interest in classic autos and the growing population of vehicle Auctions on the television the 1965 Mustang is sure to remain an Yank icon for generations to come.
