Basic Things About Binder
Most of us have redecorated our home, painting the walls in the color of our choice, changed the paint of our old car or took some painting lessons in the fine arts department. As such, we know that paint is formed of pigments, solvents, and binder. Although common intuition would make us consider pigment as the basic element of paint, actually the binder is the one playing that role. It is the only element in the absence of which we cannot paint. The binder makes the mixture the paint is composed of possible at all, and fixes the film to the surface it is applied; that is why it is also called vehicle or former.
